How to Add an App to your Facebook Page by using your APP_ID (Undocumented on FB!)

Creating an app (or selecting an already existing one) is easy, but then you spend a few hours figuring out how to add it as a tab (Especially since it won’t show up in FB search) so how do you actually achieve that?!

For those of you trying to find documentation on Facebook Developers or on Facebook Help, you wont find  out how to add your application (Or anyone else’s) to your page there. There is one requirement to be able to do so, and that’s to know your APP_ID. You don’t have to be technical, anyone can do this!

You have to know what your APP_ID is before you are able to do so.

How to locate you APP_ID:

1-Navigate to this link https://developers.facebook.com/apps

2- Summary –> App ID/API Key (It should look something like this “431240176894496”)

3- Copy it for future use

How to add an app to you page:

Use the URI below, replacing “APP_ID” with the ID of the app you want to add.

http://www.facebook.com/add.php?api_key=APP_ID&pages=1

Then simply select the page you want to add the App to, and you should be able to navigate to it easily!

How to add APP_ID to URI, then select page.

To delete an app from your page:

2-Click “Edit Page”

3-Navigate to “Apps” in the menu

I have 4 FB pages. When I try to add my app, the page I want to add it to isn’t in the drop down list. Any idea what the problem might be?

It could be several things. Maybe there’s already an app registered there. Maybe th epage doesn’ have enough likes. could be that you’re not manager of the page, only the content creator maybe? is your page published? is your page new and the others are old? cache problem? anything to do with your page secret ID?… If you could provide any more details so we can troubleshoot further..

It turned out that the app was already registered on the page but some of its settings were wrong. When I fixed them it appeared on the page. The last thing I had to do was add a port number to my secure canvas URL. I searched online and found out about this.

        e.g. https://domain.com:443/whatever/

FB wasn’t telling me there was anything wrong. It just kept saying, error saving, try again later. Adding the port number solved the problem and now everything is fine.

Thanks for taking the time to respond.

On the left hand side on your main page, there is a list of apps. Navigate down to the app (If it isnt there, just click view all) and then click on the edit button (Shaped like a blue pen) and add to favorites.
